 Five Kashmiri youths were taken into custody for carrying guns with fake license from Niramankara in this Capital City on Wednesday.

The Kashmiri youths are being interrogated by various investigation agencies, sources said.

Meanwhile, the Kashmir Police on Wednesday refuted the reports claiming that 60 youths went missing from different parts of Kashmir Valley amid the Taliban takeover of Afghanistan.

But, there were also reports that several Kashmiri youths were working as gunmen in neighbouring States including Karnataka using fake gun licence.

On Tuesday, the Defence PRO in Thiruvananthapuram clarified that there is no security threat at Pangode Military Station. A section of media had published fake news on the alleged security threat without supporting evidence, he added.

"The contents of the news related with Pangode Military Station hosted online on August 30, 2021 by Media stakeholders -- Janmabhumi Online, Karma News Online, East Coast Daily Online which has gained detrimental attention of the public and caused avoidable anxiety does not hold credibility due to lack of authentication and supporting evidence," the PRO said in a message.

The office of Defence PRO, in its official capacity scrutinized the validation of the contents of the above news segment publicized online from varied official agencies who proclaimed that the news is unsubstantiated, the message said.

It is needless to emphasize that publicizing such fake news in any media platform is against media ethics and is a serious breach of security, it said.

Appropriate action will be initiated against any entity that peddles in fake news especially which jeopardises security, it said.
